Dr. Deloris McNeal Young, D.D.
Senior Pastor Dr. Deloris M. Young is the founder and senior pastor of the Greater Pentecostal Temple, Inc., in Hardeeville, South Carolina. She is the Lay Director for the Southeastern District and a District Elder of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (PAW) and holds the distinct honor of being the first woman appointed to that position in the state of Georgia. Dr. Young was baptized in the name of Jesus and filled with the Holy Spirit at an early age. In 1972 she began to evangelize under the leadership of Pastor J.L. Young and was ordained in 1981 by the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. She attended public school in Chatham County and graduated from Richard Arnold High School. Pastor Young received her Bachelor’s of Art degree in Theology and Masters Degree in Pastoral Counseling from Zoë University in Jacksonville Florida. Her Doctoral Degree in Pastoral Psychology is from Jacksonville Theological Seminary. Dr. Young has taken advantage of many opportunities to serve the Lord in various diverse positions at the state and national levels. Some of her current positions include Constitution and By-laws Committee member for the Georgia Diocese of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World; Georgia State Council Advisory Board member, Presidential Congress member and the David L. Ellis Scholarship Fund Committee member. She is the former pastor of Mount Zion Holiness Church in Ridgeland, South Carolina. She has served as President of the Georgia State Council Missionaries and Christian Women’s Auxiliary; the Secretary for the Georgia State Missionary Council; Chaplain for the Young People’s Department, and the Constitution and By-laws Chairperson for the Young People’s Department. Her civic accomplishments include serving on the Island Health Care Medical Facility Board of Directors; lifetime member of the National Council of Negro Women; member of the South Carolina Chapter of the NAACP, M.L.K. Garden of Light Committee member and CEO of Greater Pentecostal Temple Gift Shop. Dr. Young is married to Elder Joseph Young, Sr., who serves as her Associate-Pastor. She is the mother of four children, three sons and one daughter (her eldest son is deceased), and the grandmother of nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Dr. Young is a local and international speaker. Her travels have taken her throughout the U.S., Europe, and to South Africa where she has ministered the word of God. She strives to serve the entire community as well as the Lord Jesus Christ. |
